Top new underwear trend in 2010… Walking around in your underwear in public!
Have you noticed how more and more events are being staged around the world where men and women are stripping down to their underwear? We’ve got to support that trend, people! Although, I don’t think I would have the balls myself to parade the streets (or subways) wearing just my underwear :)
Anyway, I’ve already posted a video of men wearing only their underwear roaming the streets of what seems to be Hawaii (?), and many of you guys will also remember the infamous PR stunt by Undergear where 5 underwear models wearing nothing briefs and sandals graced the streets of New York. But that’s not the only underwear events out there…
Brazilian Underwear Day
The other day I came across a video from the fourth annual Brazilian Underwear Day where gorgeous male underwear models took to the public domain and paraded around a mall as well as out in the open. What a way to promote your underwear brand, I must say. Hopefully, this tradition will last for many years to come.
In the video the types of men’s underwear on display includes briefs, trunks, boxer briefs, and boxer shorts. Watch the video at the end of this post.
No Pants Subway Ride
The No Pants Subway Ride is another annual underwear event staged by Improv Everywhere every January in New York City as well as other cities around the world. The event dates back to 2002.
For the ninth annual No Pants ride, over 5,000 people took off their pants and, for the men’s part, revealed mainly boxer briefs, boxer shorts, briefs, and regular briefs on subways in 44 cities around the world. In New York, the event attracted over 3,000 participants, spread out over six meeting points and ten subway lines. Watch the video at the bottom of this post.
Both the No Pants Subway Ride and Brazilian Underwear Day are perfect opportunities for you underwear enthusiasts out there to promote some inspiring underwear so we can push the mainstream men’s underwear fashion in a more interesting direction :)
If you went to one of these events, I’d love to have you guest post on the blog, or maybe just a comment on what it was like to participate :)
Update: Michelle from Sexy Undies mentioned in her comment that Björn Borg Underwear is also staging outdoor underwear events. This trend is spreading like wildfire :) Actually, I’ll soon be doing a post on Björn Borg and how clever they are at coming up with innovative ways of promoting their underwear collections.

I’d been noticing the exact same thing Jay! Bjorn Borg have also been doing similar stuff with their San Francisco underwear / fancy dress run (http://swedishexports.bjornborg.com/#/events/D4E4D) which I hear they’re considering doing again!
Like you though not sure I’m quite brave enough!!

Hi Michelle! Great observation, I’ve updated the post to mention the Bjorn Borg underwear run.
Actually, their entire Swedish Export campaign is pretty cool, and I’ll do a post about it in the near future.
Have a nice weekend!

I have been going out in undies for years now. Infact I might have started this trend! I once traveled all the way from Manchester to London and spent 24 hours in underwear for charity.
Most recently I traveled in underwear during the Amsterdam No Pants Day in Amsterdam. Next I’ll be attending the Naked Bike Ride in the same city June 11th – in underwear, not naked of-course.
My standard kit is white briefs and t-shirt though the No Pants Day in wintertime Amsterdam means being fully dressed for the top half for that one.
More about the experiences if anyone is interested. I’d also be interested in hearing from anyone who’d like to team up on my underwear excursions. I live in northern Germany.
