2wink Space Cadet trunk – A review
2wink men’s underwear has been on the radar of Guys’ Underwear Blog for while now. It’s one of the fast-growing Australian brands which have created a booming market for fashionable and affordable men’s underwear.
My sources in the underwear community tell me that 2wink is selling more than 80.000 pairs of underwear every year in spite of only being around since 2005. Impressive! I also hear that the brand is moving into the swim wear category, which – though not my main domain – which will be interesting to follow.
I always make it a point to applaud success stories within the men’s underwear industry. 2wink is an example of this and there’s no doubt that the brand is contributing to a new world order within men’s mainstream underwear fashion.
Today I will be reviewing the new 2wink Space Cadet trunk and I can tell you now that like the 2wink Cool Devil briefs and Hot Angel trunks, this trunk doesn’t disappoint.
Style
Like its cousin, the Hot Angel, the 2wink Space Cadet trunk is a low-rise trunk. This means if you’re usually a trunk and/or boxer brief kind of guy, you’ll feel right at home in this style. Generally, the trunk style is becoming increasingly popular. Guys often enjoy the shorter legs compared to the traditional boxer brief.
If you’re contemplating switching from boxer briefs to trunks, the 2wink Space Cadet would be perfect choice.
Pouch design
The Space Cadet trunk comes with a standard-sized pouch, which provided me with adequate support the entire day I wore it. There’s plenty of room for the average package, and as there’s no invasive lift or pushup functionality, this trunk will serve you just fine as underwear for everyday purposes.
Back design
The fact that the Space Cadet trunk is relatively low rise and has short legs means that your butt is always nicely framed. All the 2wink trunks I have ever worn, including this one, are carefully produced so that they don’t become too low rise. Extremely low rise men’s underwear will eventually reveal your butt crack, which is a major fashion no no. Luckily I didn’t experience this with the Space Cadet trunk.
Waistband
The trunk comes with a 1,5″ white waistband with the a special Space Cadet 2wink logo imprinted in lime and purple colors. As is the standard with 2wink underwear, the waistband has a product information patch stitched on the inside rear of the trunks. The stitching, however, is very well done and you won’t notice the patch at all.
Fabric quality
The fabric blend is the standard 92 % (nice quality) cotton and 8 % spandex mix, and it does the job fine. It feels soft and quite comfortable to wear, which is a prerequisite for men’s underwear that’s supposed to be worn all day long. One small thing, though, like with the Hot Angel style, the 2wink Space Cadet trunk could have used a little more stretch in the fabric.
Color
The color of the trunk is a funky dark purple. If you get itchy with all the bright-colored men’s underwear coming out this season, the Space Cadet style will be a good choice for you. Even if you’re usually a little conservative when it comes to underwear designs and colors, this trunk with its subtle space theme and classic dark base color might just be what you’re underwear drawer has been longing for.
Fit
I wore a US size M for a 32″ waist, and the trunk fit was just fine. No need to size up or down.
Price
You can get the 2wink Space Cadet trunk at 2wink’s own web shop. At just US$18.75, the price of the trunk is one of its best features :)
