Todd and Terry Hamish Trunk – A review
I first stumbled upon Todd and Terry a few months ago, and I must say they’ve come a long way in a short time.
Nowadays, Todd and Terry have got a brand new website and distributor deals with major online stores like International Jock and UnderBriefs.com.
Though the brand has a limited selection of cuts (briefs and trunks) they make up for it with an abundance of pattern-based print designs and production quality.
Todd and Terry is the latest addition to the wide array of high-quality Australian brands. I’ve really anticipated the opportunity to actually wear a pair of T&Ts to see if the underwear would live up to the standards of its Aussie competitors.
That day has finally come as I’ve been testing the Todd and Terry Harmish trunk today.
Short version of the verdict: I like this pair of trunks. A lot!
Style
Not so much fuzz here. The T&T Hamish trunk is a regular trunk cut with legs measuring about 6,5 inches including waistband. As a cut, the trunk is suitable for almost every type of everyday activity. Overall, the different parts of the Hamish trunk is perfectly proportioned and will be an obvious choice for men who don’t care too much for low rise or skimpy underwear.
Pouch design
The pouch is double-layered and features a traditional, fully functional fly. You know, it’s funny, I never really use the fly functionality but I really like it as a feature on boxer briefs and trunks. It adds a certain touch of maturity and class.
In terms of pouch space, comfort, and fit, I give the Todd and Terry Hamish trunk a straight A. For a standard pouch (non-enhancing, non-lift) it does the job extremely well. There’s plenty of room for everything, and at the same time your stuff is kept adequately in place.
Back design
There’s never much hassle with trunk cuts when it comes to back coverage, especially trunks that are not too low rise. The Hamish trunk covered my average-sized rear (at least I think it is) just perfect. The legs of the trunk stay well in place and didn’t crawl up – a result of the leg openings that feature above average elasticity.
Waistband
The 1,5 inch wide waistband of the T&T Hamish trunk is in perfect proportion with the rest of the trunk. In general, it seems over-sized waistbands is going out fashion at the moment.
The white/grayish waistband has the elegantly designed Todd and Terry logo embroided in black font, contrasted above with a set of two thin red lines. Overall, the design of the waistband adds a high-end feeling to the trunk.
In terms of stretch, I couldn’t be happier. There was no muffin top effect – even after two weeks of vacation and no excise :)
The best thing, though, is the fact that Todd and Terry has left out the product information patch that’s normally stitched to the inside rear of the waistband. Rather, they’ve printed the information on the inside of the trunk below the waistband.
I really liked that I didn’t have to cut away an annoying patch to achieve optimal comfort.
Fabric quality
Made from a classic 95 % cotton, 5 % Spandex fabric blend, the Hamish trunk is a safe bet for cotton lovers. It feels soft against the skin, is comfortable to wear all day, and normally keeps its fit and stretch even after quite a few washes.
Color / print pattern
As mentioned, Todd and Terry underwear is available in an endless number of print and pattern designs. The Hamish orange design, which I wore, consists of a pattern of round-edged rectangular shapes and circles, which gives the trunk a clean and timeless look.
No matter your preference, T&T’s got a design for you, whether you want solid colors of even funkier designs.
Go to Todd and Terry’s website to see the entire collection (a total of 34 variations!).
Fit
The fit of the trunk was superb. I wore a size M for a 32/33 inch waist, and I found no need to size either up or down.
Price
The Todd and Terry Hamish trunk is priced between US $26 and $30, which makes it a mid-range product. To me, the price/quality ratio is spot on.

Couldn’t agree more – I too liked the label location and all too often find myself having to take a pair of scissors to my underwear just to make them comfortable. Kudos to T&T.
