Ristefsky Macheda Dare Brief – An Xpress review from Guys’ Underwear Blog
Not so long ago I introduced my latest Australian underwear obsession, Ristefsky Macheda.
And you know you loved those pictures and videos!
So, as always when I get my hands on a brand I’m not familiar with, I was excited when I received the Ristefsky Macheda Dare Brief in the mail last week.
Not only was I looking forward to experiencing the quality of the brief, but it actually has been a while since I’ve tried out a good old regular cut brief that dares (pun intended) to defy the resent low-rise and bikini style trends.
And guys, sometimes it just feels good to be a little conservative. There’s a reason why this classic cut keeps coming back in style.
‘Nuff talk, on with the review of the Ristefsky Macheda Dare Brief.
| Feature | Verdict |
| Style and look | I often mention that regular cut briefs will add a touch of class to your look, making you appear masculine and confident. I find this to be especially true with the Ristefsky Macheda Dare Brief. The mid-rise cut, the fly pouch, the 5 inches wide sides, thick waistband, and plentiful back coverage make for a stunning and classic combination. This is the style choice for guys who want down-to-earth comfort and class and can’t be bothered with the ever-changing underwear trends. Do yourself a favor, though, get it in red, blue or yellow. It’ll add just a hint of funk which is a nice understated contrast to the conservative cut. |
| Suitable for? | Keeping in line with the classic style, the fabric composition is a standard 95 % Cotton, 5 % Elastane. As always, this means that the brief is suitable for almost all of your daily activities (not sports activities, though). Wear it for work, wear it on lazy Sundays – it stays in place all day long, and I found that it provided perfect support both front and back. |
| Fit and quality? | I usually wear a size M for my 32/33 inch waist, but I actually got a L this time and it fit fine and was not too loose. I guess a Medium would have been an equally fine though slightly firmer fit due to the adequate stretch capabilities of the fabric. If you’re like me and tend to be in between sizes, you can go for either size with the Ristefsky Macheda Dare Brief depending on your preferences. In terms of production quality, the brief is excellently put together. I have the bright blue variant and it hasn’t faded in color after a couple of washes. |
| Is the price right? | The Dare Brief is priced at around US $23, which I find to be reasonable. I might even go as far as to say that it may have many competitors in this price range beat when it comes to production quality. |
| Best thing about it? | The guys behind Ristefsky Macheda, Stephen Ristefsky and Vincent Macheda, have put together a brief that’s classic and well-produced in every detail. They’re not reinventing men’s underwear with this brief. Still, I can’t help but really like it. It has that comfortable, vintage feel to it – which is a nice contrast to all the modern, high-tech underwear that’s taking up more and more space in my undies drawer. |
| Overall grade | ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ No bad surprises with the Dare Brief – it truly deserves a proper grade. Every guy should have a classic pair of men’s briefs like this in his underwear drawer. |
