Dolce & Gabbana is a men’s underwear brand that really knows how to create a buzz with their advertising campaigns. Like fellow high-end Italian underwear maker, Armani, D&G has preference for using super fit European soccer stars as full-on male underwear models.
And D&G never disappoints when it comes to their male underwear ads. If you haven’t already seen it, you won’t want to miss their last behind-the-scenes video from an underwear photo shoot featuring some Italy’s hottest best swimmers.
This time around it is the Italian footballers who take center stage in a new advertising campaign for Dolce and Gabbana’s 2010 summer men’s underwear collection, Calcio. Meet Antonio Di Natale, Vincenzo Iaquinta, Claudio Marchisio, Federico Marchetti and Domenico Criscito.
Scroll to the bottom of the post to watch the brand new behind-the-scenes video of the photo shoot for the Calcio underwear collection.
Don’t forget to watch my other video featuring behind-the-scenes action from that same D&G Calcio photo shoot!
UPDATE: D&G has released a brand new behind-the-scenes video from the Calcio photo shoot. Watch it now.
UPDATE 2: D&G did another Calcio video with even more closeups of the many available underwear styles.
The campaign was shot in front of a locker room shower stall and was done by the internationally known fashion photographer Mariano Vivanco, who has worked on previous Dolce & Gabbana campaigns.
I’ve been trying to dig up some additional info on the up-coming Calcio men’s underwear range. Rumor has it that the collection will be out in mid-may 2010. Keep an eye out for the new D&G styles at HisRoom.com which offers a broad range of D&G underwear products.
From the pictures and video it seems that Calcio collection will feature briefs, low rise briefs, and trunks with a fairly wide waistband. It’s difficult to determine the type of fabric but probably it’ll be some type of cotton blend.
Fun fact: Calcio is Italian for “football [soccer]” :)
Thanks to UNB for bringing my attention to this video.
Oh, and incidentally this my 100th post. Can’t wait to do 100 more :)
