CK briefs – A guide to the best Calvin Klein Men’s Briefs
CK briefs are among my favorite underwear (I am wearing a pair right now) and yesterday’s blog post about the male underwear models in Calvin Klein boxer briefs made me wonder… Which are actually the best CK briefs? Calvin Klein has so many underwear collections to choose from and the sheer number of different men’s briefs can take your breath away.
A quick look at International Jock’s CK briefs selection (by the way, I am not affiliated with IJ, I just really like that particular online store) will show you that men looking for the perfect brief will have no less than 11 Calvin Klein collections to choose from as well as countless color variations within each collection. The CK collections include
- 365
- Body
- Body Boost
- Body Stretch
- Micro Modal
- Pro Stretch
- Pro Stretch Reflex
- Steel
- Tech Active
- Tech Cool
- Trunk Matrix
- X Micro / Cotton
With this many cuts, looks, colors, and designs to choose from, the average guy will have a tough job choosing the right CK brief. Obviously, you have to bear in mind the purpose of the underwear. Are you looking for briefs to wear for athletic activities, are you looking for some comfortable underwear to wear for work, or are you perhaps looking to spice up your underwear wardrobe with some colorful briefs that will have you looking stylish when the pants come off?
It’s safe to say that whatever your need, Calvin Klein will most likely have a pair of briefs that suits it. And really, one of the major strengths of the CK underwear brand is their price to quality ratio. Most of their fabric blends, be they cotton- or nylon-based, are top quality, and with an average price in the area of $20, the CK briefs are often the best bargain compared to some of their premium competitors.
As I usually do, I have to applaud Calvin Klein’s professional marketing strategies. Though CK isn’t really up there with Aussiebum, Baskit, Piss & Vinegar, and Ginch Gonch (to name a few) when it comes to video marketing, they do excellent packaging and photo art work as well outstanding model choice. Several sports stars and actors have graced CK underwear ads, and lately Twillight star Kellan Lutz is attracting attention to the new Calvin Klein X collection. Finally, we mustn’t forget the fact that Calvin Klein puts an effort into producing high end underwear fashion shows.
Let’s get back on track. Because the CK briefs selection is so diverse, I thought I’d help you distraught guys out there choose the right brief for the right purpose. Here are some suggestions. If you have some additional advice for choosing the best CK briefs, do post a comment at the bottom of the entry.
CK brief for sports activities: Calvin Klein Tech Active Hip Brief
Most of us men (hopefully) do some kind of athletic activity to stay fit and healthy. Whether you run, go to the gym, play tennis, or something else, you need to wear some proper breathable underwear. Since men perspire heavily during sports activities, you will need a pair of briefs that control the moisture by wicking it away from the body for fast evaporation.
For this purpose you should choose a mesh-type, nylon-blend fabric as this will help remove the moist from you crotch rather than retain it as a cotton-blend fabric would. Choosing a brief style for athletic purposes makes great sense as it usually provides better support and freedom of movement than boxer briefs. You can also choose to go for a jockstrap if you are looking for even more support.
I recommend that you go for the CK Tech Active Hip Brief, which is a lightweight low rise brief. It’s made from an 85% nylon and 15% lycra mesh fabric and has a tagless waistband (for minimum chafing), a no-gap, dual-ply front pouch that provide proper male support. Where ever you choose to get it, look for CK style number U2722. These CK briefs shouldn’t set you back more than $24.
CK brief for the night out: Calvin Klein Steel Micro Hip Brief (Watermelon)
When you go out to have fun, go on a date, or when you just want feel fashionable and cool even when it comes to your underwear, Calvin Klein has an abundance of options. Briefs are the hottest men’s underwear item at the moment, and if you want to gain respect and admiration in the bedroom, bathroom, and locker rooms this season, you need to go for the bright, almost neon-like colors when choosing your CK briefs.
Don’t be afraid to choose colors like bright red, pink, or blue – most men can wear these, and briefs in such colors will spice up your look and diverge attention from that pale tan-less body most of us are facing every morning in the mirror during the winter months (not you, lucky Australians).
When it comes to fabrics, you can be as bold and experimenting as you like. If you are only wearing these briefs one day or night at a time, you don’t need to worry too much about extreme comfort. It’s the look that counts. However, the CK brief I’ve chosen for this category is in fact really comfortable.
The CK Calvin Klein Steel Micro Hip Brief in the Watermelon color (pink) lives up to all the requirements for a men’s brief suitable for a fun evening. It’s made from comfortable micro fiber consisting of 89% Nylon and 11 % Lycra, which means you dance the night away and not worry about sweaty underwear when you get home.
The CK Steel Micro Hip Brief features a two-ply contoured support pouch, a 1 ¾-inch metal-look elastic waistband, low-rise styling, full seat coverage and no interior sizing tag so nothing touches your skin but the fabric (=no chafing).
Don’t let the bright color fool you, as this underwear style will define any man wearing it as strong, masculine, bold and fashion-forward.
Look for CK style U2715-R75 when going out to buy these briefs and don’t pay more than $24.
CK brief for everyday wear and work: Calvin Klein Body Hip Brief
The final category I will be looking into is probably the most important one. You need to have a well-fitting, good quality, non over-priced pair of 100 % cotton briefs for your everyday purposes. This is important, guys.
Unless you sweat tremendously at work, you will appreciate a nice comfortable pair of CK briefs that will stay put, and not chafe, the entire day, from sunrise till bedtime. And since most men go to work every day, the briefs must be reasonably priced so you can buy enough pairs to last you an entire work week.
Classic colors like black and white will be just fine for your everyday purposes, and you need to make sure that the CK briefs don’t shrink when washed. Get a a low-rise, hip brief cut with high-cut leg openings and a tagless design to achieve the maximum level of day-long comfort.
The Calvin Klein Body Hip Brief is the perfect choice in this category. These CK briefs are made from 100 % cotton, and I’ve been wearing a pair all day today at work and at home – and they just stay in place and give proper support hour after hour. And the best part? They will cost you a measly $16! The CK style code is U1703.
Let me know in the comments if there are other Calvin Klein men’s underwear styles you would recommend for the three scenarios described above.
