Well, the men’s underwear community has been buzzing over with excitement these last few weeks over the release of the brand new Calvin Klein X Cotton and X Micro collections. All the biggest underwear bloggers have scrutinized the new Calvins. I have read all the posts so you guys don’t have to and this post will tell you all you need to know about the new underwear styles.

Let’s start with a brief overview of what the new collections consists of…

Calvin Klein X Cotton/Micro: Styles, quality, and price.
Don’t expect any revolutionizing new designs from either of the X Cotton/Micro collections. As my colleague over at the Men’s Underwear Blog writes in his review of the CK X Cotton Trunk, the strength of the new collection is found in their supreme fabric and manufacturing quality as well as the cool clean look, which Calvin Klein has come to be associated with since the 1990s.

As far as model range, the collections include hip briefs, low rise trunks, and boxer briefs. You will also be able to get short sleeve shirts and cotton pants.

As hinted in the name of the collection, two types of fabric will be available. The CK X Micro is made from ultra-soft microfiber, making the underwear lightweight and breathable. Added stretch enhances comfort and shape retention. For instance, you might want to use the X Micro brief or boxer briefs for sports and athletic activities.

Even though the CK X Cotton underwear range is given with the cotton label, the underwear will still consist of a mixture of cotton, modal, and elastane. This fabric mix supposedly results in an overall softer texture. The word in the underwear community is that the cotton style is extremely comfortable to wear. So far so good.

Now, when it comes to the price range for the CK X underwear, it is no surprise that whether you are into briefs, boxer briefs, or trunks, you are going to pay a premium. The prices start at 26 USD, but hey, these babies are the latest and most hyped men’s underwear out there at the moment, so if you want to be the coolest guy in the locker room you gotta pay the price.

Along with Armani and Aussiebum, CK always does a great job marketing their underwear collections. Armani’s got Beckham and Ronaldo (‘nuf said), Aussibum is the king of viral videos, and CK simply does great photo- and art work for ads and product packaging.

It’s only fitting that CK has employed Twilight star and notorious hunk, Kellan Lutz, as their new underwear model and promoter of the X collection. And I’ve got the behind-the-scenes video from the underwear ad shoot!

In the video Lutz is seen posing in trunks and boxer briefs while being interviewed about his relationship with the Calvin Klein brand. Too bad he’s not showing off the briefs :( Not to worry, though, fellow Twilight star Robert Pattinson actually also started his career in modelling, and he didn’t shy away from modeling a nice pair of red men’s briefs…

(Actually, since this post was written, CK did an ad featuring the brief style, though it was not worn by Lutz)
