Aussiebum Lockerboy Brief – A review
It’s Aussiebum week here at Guys’ Underwear Blog!
I started out with a review of the brand new Aussiebum HUNK brief, which was an absolute pleasure to wear.
Remember to also read the review of the insanely comfortable Aussiebum Journey hipster.
Today, I’ll take a look at another of Aussiebum’s newest collection, the much hyped Lockerboy men’s brief range.
Let’s just refresh our memory. Expect the Lockerboy brief to look something like what you see in this video…
From the looks of the video, the Lockerboy brief is a slightly more obvious choice than the HUNK brief for guys who are looking for a a classic (slightly low rise) brief. More about this in the review below.
Style
As mentioned, the Aussiebum Lockerboy brief doesn’t have as high cut leg openings as was the case with the HUNK brief. In fact, it’s a modern classic cut brief. I say “modern” because even though it is in fact low rise, this type of cut seems to be well on the way to becoming the new standard brief. At its narrowest, the sides of the Lockerboy brief measure 3 inches including the waistband.
This is the type of brief most men will feel comfortable wearing as their everyday underwear. If you’re considering a switch from boxer briefs to briefs, this brief can ease the transition.
Pouch design
The pouch design of the Lockerboy brief is very similar to that of the HUNK brief. It comes with plenty of room for your boys, and I never noticed the subtle center seam inside the pouch. The flexible fabric composition also means that the pouch has just the right amount of stretch to allow for your stuff to “shuffle” while still providing adequate support.
Back design
As the Aussiebum Lockerboy brief is more classically cut than its HUNK cousin, this also means that you won’t have worry about butt coverage. Both butt cheeks are sufficiently covered in fabric and the wide waistband eliminates the need to pull the brief up when wearing it an entire day.
Again the stretchiness of the fabric is a key feature as it ensures that there is no excess fabric, which can sometimes give briefs that, most unfortunate, “saggy” look.
Waistband
The 1,75 inches wide, black waistband is a defining feature of the Lockerboy brief. It’s fairly wide compared to the HUNK brief and in my opinion it gives this brief a more masculine look. As it is quite wide, the waistband does a proper job keeping the entire brief in firmly in place. The well-known “Aussiebum” logo is imprinted in white across the waistband, thus adding a nice contrast.
As is standard with Aussiebum underwear, the waistband has a product information patch stitched on the inside rear of the waistband. As always, the stitching is properly done so you won’t notice the patch.
Fabric quality
The cotton-based fabric blend (90 % cotton / 10 % Elastane) is slightly different from the HUNK brief – the Lockerboy brief has 2 % more Elastane. The difference isn’t too obvious, but I guess it means that the Lockerboy briefs should feel slightly more stretchy. What’s more important, though, is that the fabric quality is just perfect. This is top quality cotton, making these briefs suitable for most everyday purposes.
Color
The Aussiebum Lockerboy brief range is available in bright shades of orange, ice, green, yellow, and pink. This makes the range quite a trendy choice right now. I wore the green version which complemented my somewhat pale skin tone (though with an ever improving tan :)) just fine if I should say so myself.
Fit
Once again, I wore a size M for a 32 inch waist, and the brief fit like a glove. No need to size up or down.
Price
The Aussiebum Lockerboy brief is US$20, which is US$4 more than the HUNK brief. I think this a fair price as this a more fuller cut. And don’t forget the free shipping! Get it now while these colors are still trendy.

They look awesome, you’re right, but it really is the perfected fit that’s the winning feature in my book :)
