Did you ever have a case of underwear déjà vu? Like, when you try on something that you think is a new addition to your collection, you think “wait – do I own these already?” I recently had such an experience when I tried on the Rounderwear Jam Gold Brief. Even though it’s offered by a brand that I don’t know well, everything about it — the fabric, fit and styling — felt very familiar. And then I realized: it’s a slightly modified version of the Calvin Klein Steel Micro Hip Brief.
Nearly everything about the Rounderwear Jam Gold Brief, from the soft, microfiber fabric to the 1-3/4” wide, metallic waistband to the low cut – reminds me of the Calvin Klein Steel Micro Hip Brief, which has been available for years. (When I put the two briefs on top of each other to compare, though, I noticed that the cut of the Jam Gold Brief is slightly lower: 2-1/2” vs. 3”.) In any event, the similarity to the Calvin Klein Steel Brief isn’t a bad thing. Like the Steel Micro Hip Brief, the Jam Gold Brief is high quality, comfortable and flattering, and wearable in pretty much any environment. Manufactured in Mexico, the brief is made of a soft microfiber blend (92% micromodal/8% elastane), and features full back coverage, a comfortable pouch, and a wide, gold waistband with a cursive “Jam” logo that IMHO is a little tacky.
Not that every brief I try on needs to blow me away, but it’s nice when a new line offers something distinctive. The only distinctive features that I noticed about the Jam Gold Brief were the logo and the slightly, lower cut. The primary difference is the price. The Jam Gold Brief retails for $35; the Calvin Klein Steel Micro Hip Brief retails for $24. I do not know what counts for the $11 difference. As I’ve noted before in previous posts, I am frustrated when manufacturers charge a significant premium that is not correlated to anything in particular; this is reflected in my rating. If I didn’t know the price, I would probably give these 4 stars. Although the Jam Gold Brief is nearly 50% more expensive than its older brother, the Steel Micro Hip Brief, it is certainly not 50% better.

Sizzling underwear art is what you get!
It hasn’t been more than little over a week since we last enjoyed the work of Mr. Martin when he shared with all of us his breathtaking work with the new (to us at least) underwear brand, Hurmoso.
Now, however, he has taken one of our dear old brands – Aware Soho – and shown it from its absolutely best side. Modeling the British undies and swim wear is the stunning Gabriel García.
If you like what you see in the pictures, you can head over to www.awaresoho.com to get all the styles you see in the pictures below. And FYI, a pair of briefs will set you back around $23 USD.
Enjoy the pics and the rest of your Saturday, guys!
