Today we welcome guest blogger, Holly from Underwearunlimited.co.uk, to GUB. With our recent fascination with men’s underwear statistics, we liked the idea of Holly’s list with 7 fun facts about the world of underwear that you most likely didn’t know. Que Holly!

By Holly

We all wear underwear, don’t we? If you don’t you really should, as in some places around the world it is illegal. Did you also know that the US revealed that 9% of men in America have underwear that is at least 10 years old?

Underwear is fun and there are hundreds of facts out there about this intimate garment of clothing, many of which we can put money on you not knowing. Whilst many of these underwear facts are sure to never pop up on your favorite television quiz show, there will come a time in your life when interesting facts about underwear will be appropriate at the dinner table.

For example, did you know that Agent Provocateur and Puma underwear use porn references in their advertising to get people talking (maybe this isn’t a fact for the dinner table)? When that time arises, you will thank us for our infinite underwear knowledge.

Find below 7 facts you didn’t know about underwear.

1. In Brazil, you are expected to always wear brand new underwear on New Year’s Eve.

2. In the US, consumers spend more than $13 billion on underwear and lingerie every single year.

3. You can buy edible underwear in almost any flavor you like, with some made from sweets and others from chocolate (yes, chocolate that melts!)

4. Around 85% of men do not use the opening in their underwear to urinate, instead opting to simply pull the underwear down slightly.

5. When packing to go abroad, underwear is the most common thing which we forget to pack, leading to a trip to a clothing store.

6. You can buy boxers shorts from designer UNDER with two solid gold buttons on the front. They cost around £100.

7. In Thailand it is illegal to go commando and wear no underwear, despite the heat, and you can be arrested for it.

Do you know any other interesting facts about underwear? Have you got any fun underwear stories to tell us? Be sure to let us know!

Guys in Underwear – Puma

Via Universalgear.com I found my way to some promo pics of two of Puma’s popular men’s underwear ranges, Active Leisure and Pro Tech.

I actually introduced these two ranges back in April – and now they’re on sale! Just $16 for a pair of Puma Active Contrast Briefs and just $18 for the Puma Pro Tech Sport Brief.

By the way, did you know that the Active Leisure style has a small side pocket for a condom, locker key or any other small item you’d like to hide? Clever.

Puma is a sports brand which clearly shows in these two ranges, which are made from flexible and breathable fabrics – perfect for athletic activities.

Check out the complete ranges at www.universalgear.com.

Puma men’s underwear. Funky new 2010 designs.

Puma men’s underwear has an interesting history to it. Puma has made a name for itself as a sports shoe company, but in recent years the athletic brand has become a major player in the world of men’s underwear. The key features of Puma men’s underwear are high quality fabrics and cuts appropriate for athletic activities.

Via UndieFan my attention was directed at Puma’s new 2010 men’s underwear designs, which introduces some funky colors. I especially like how they’ve combined darker colors with bright neon-like rubberized font prints on the waistbands.

Puma’s Active Leisure Low Rise Brief features a fun little detail, a small sport pocket on the right hip to store essentials when there just isn’t room for them anywhere else. What would you keep there? :)

According to the product description, the Active Leisure collection features an ultra soft and stretchy waistband with a locker loop on the back with a rubberized Puma logo as well as a lightweight and breathable material (46% Modal/Rayon, 46% Cotton, 8% Spandex/Elastane/Lycra) to allow the brief to move with you.

The brief is reasonably priced at $22. The Active Leisure collection also includes an attention-grabbing blue trunk style at $24.

Both styles are available at online men’s underwear store, Skiviez.

I also noticed that new styles had been added to the Puma Pro-Tech collection including this Pro-Tech Sport Trunk with some cool mesh panels on the sides. If you’re looking for underwear, which is properly produced for sports activities, these might the better choice with their 88% Nylon/Tactel, 12% Spandex/Elastane/Lycra fabric composition. They are priced a little higher than the Active Leisure collection at $28.
