New jockstraps out this fall. See the pictures.
November 9th, 2011So, we just checked the stats for Guys’ Underwear Blog and found that thousands of the people that visit our humble site are looking for jockstrap contents.
And as always, what the people want, we deliver!
As part our effort to bring you more jockstrap pictures, news and sales, we have started working with the jockstrap mother ship that is Jockstrap Central, not to mention the many other fine underwear companies that help fuel our blog with inspiring jockstrap content – many of which you see in the column on the right.
Anyway, today we thought we’d bring you guys some new inspiration from jockstrap makers Modus Vivendi and Jack Adams.

New Modus Vivendi ARES men’s underwear range. It’s steel undies!
October 21st, 2011Our Greek friends over at Modus Vivendi are at again with a brand new range of God-worthy undies.
The range is called ARES, after the Greek God of war. He embodied the physical valor necessary for success in war. He was a dangerous force, overwhelming, insatiable in battle, destructive, and man-slaughtering.
Yikes! That’s one mean motherf***er!
So it’s only appropriate that the new range is fitted with a MAJOR steel badge at the front of the 2 inch wide waistband. It almost like a fighter championship victory belt. How fitting.
This is definitely underwear to wear if you want to command respect (and a bit of fear) from anyone who is fortunate enough to see you in these babies.
The briefs are, well, a bit expensive ($80 USD), but if you want truly divine underwear, it’ll cost ya. The ARES range is also available as jockstrap. And hey, if you register at their site, you’ll get a 10 % discount. Note bad.

New Modus Vivendi men’s underwear collections are worthy of gods!
July 28th, 2011So, it’s only been a few weeks since Modus Vivendi launched their Apollo and Hermes men’s underwear collections.
Yet, already they’re at it again, launching two new collections that are truly worthy of gods.
Behold the Zeus & Dionysus collections (below)!
We must admit that we find these new styles very intriguing. It’s definitely not everyday wear, that’s for sure.
We get the feeling that some of these styles could have been worn by Greek athletes in the ancient Olympic games – like that rope-type jockstrap or the skimpy t-string (had it not been made from a very modern 48% cotton, 47% polyster and 5% elastan fabric mix with metal fibers!).
Even though Modus Vivendi is obviously high-quality specialty underwear, the price isn’t actually too bad. The t-string bikini is $32 USD, the rope jockstrap is $50, and the briefs are about $40.

New Modus Vivendi “Apollo and Hermes” collection. See the pics.
June 25th, 2011Greetings from California where I’m currently roatripping. Such nice weather you guys have here.
So over there in Europe, our favorite Greek underwear brand, Modus Vivendi, is doing their bit to save their country from financial ruin by launching a new range of underwear inspired by Greek gods, Hermes and Apollo.
Hermes is the great messenger of the gods in Greek mythology and a guide to the Underworld. An Olympian god, he is also the patron of boundaries and of the travelers who cross them, of shepherds and cowherds, of the cunning of the thieves, of orators and wit, of literature and poets, of athletes and sports, of weights and measures, of invention, and of commerce in general.
Ahhh, pause for breath. That is one busy and diverse Greek god!
And now he can add God of men’s underwear as well – what an honor!
The same goes for Apollo who, besides providing a divine touch to this new undies collection, has to supervise light and sun, truth and prophecy, medicine, healing, music, arts, and more.
Fit for a Greek god, the new Modus Vivendi underwear collection is pretty extensive and include new briefs, jocktraps, and trunks.
In terms of price, the new items are VERY affordable, ranging from just $17 USD for a pair of briefs to about $20 for a pair of trunks.
The styles include Modus Vivendi’s signature swimsuit-like strings as well as as some over-sized buttons down the center of the fly.

June 15th, 2011Skilled men’s underwear photographer, John Mitchel, recently did a photo shoot featuring tough-ass, super fit bodybuilder-slash-male-underwear-model, John Quinlan.
Seriously, this John Quinlan looks like he should be an action flick or something. He’s got one mean Bruce Willis (only fitter) look going on. It even looks a bit awkward when he smiles, haha. When it comes down to it, though, who wouldn’t want a body like that, hehe.
Anyway, for the shoot John M. had John Q. wear underwear from both Smuggling Duds and Modus Vivendi, both of which are household brands here at Guys’ Underwear Blog.
Remember, we really liked both the Smuggling Duds boxer briefs as well as as the Modus Vivendi brief that we tried out last year.

And today I’m wrapping it all up with a review of the Modus Vivendi Colorful Camouflage Brief.
Modus Vivendi has many, many different underwear collections to choose from, including an abundance of niche underwear styles with outstanding features and details.
For this review, though, I went for a more mainstream brief cut and cotton fabric blend, simply to show that Modus Vivendi actually also masters the type of underwear that guys wear the most.
The Modus Colorful Camouflage Brief hasn’t actually been released for sale yet, but in terms of cut and fabric composition it’s almost completely identical to the Vivendi TNT brief (shown in the first picture). The TNT brief is available over at www.e-modusvivendi.com for about US $23.

| Style and look | Like the Vivendi TNT brief, the Camouflage brief is a modern day classic; low-rise, non-skimpy with proper back coverage and a soft-feeling and sufficiently stretchy 1,5 inches wide waistband. When it comes to cut, then, the Camouflage brief is a safe and comfortable choice. In terms of the camouflage print design, it certainly will be a colorful addition to your underwear drawer. B aware that camo prints go in and out of style very frequently. So should you grow tired of the camo look, do hold on to this brief because before you know, it’ll be a hot item once again. If you are more into solid colors, go for the Vivendi TNT or Strip briefs. |
| Suitable for? | With its standard cut and 93 % cotton / 7 % Elastane fabric composition, the Colorful Camouflage brief is a perfect choice for everyday wear. This is the kind of brief you can wear to work, to play, and to bed without having to ever readjust it. It stays perfectly in place whatever you’re sitting, walking or running. The pouch is plentiful and roomy and kept my stuff nicely supported throughout the day. |
| Fit and quality? | I have 32/33 inch the waist, and as usual I wore a size M, which was a perfect fit for me. I experienced no muffin top or tell tell waistband marks around my waist :) I have to make a comment about the production quality which I find to be remarkable. The stitching is really well done, and stretch, fit and colors have not suffered at all after the first few washes like you sometimes see with lower quality underwear. |
| Is the price right? | In general, European men’s underwear is more expensive than American and Australian brands. The weak dollar and higher production costs is a challenge for European brands. An official price tag for the Camouflage brief is yet to published but I would suspect that it be priced similarly to the TNT brief, which is US $22. This is absolutely acceptable for a brief of this standard. |
| Best thing about it? | The perfected fit and production quality has been a pleasure to experience. Combined with the fact that the Camouflage brief most likely will cost less than $25, makes for the perfect opportunity for you to get a hot European brief to make you stand out from your peers. |
| Overall grade | ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ I review a lot of standard cut briefs and it can be difficult for a brand to stand out with this style. Even though it comes in a number of splashy colors, the real value of the Modus Vivendi Colorful Camouflage brief lies in the superb production quality. If you haven’t already got a pair of European briefs, the Camouflage brief is a safe place to start. |
