Happy Friday, guys!
Here’s a little treat for the eyes, fresh in from our friends over at aussieBum.
Yesterday, aussieBum put some well needed Aussie warmth and sunshine in the coldest winter London has experienced in 30 years.
Last Thursday afternoon, seven hot aussieBum models warmed up the men’s underwear department of London fashion temple Selfridges on Oxford street as they walked around the department store’s aisles in nothing more than their underwear!
aussieBum’s latest underwear range MyDAY, featuring 7 eye catching waistband colours (one for each day of the week) came to life as the models took on parading in front of thousands of amazed Christmas shoppers.
Here is a selection of pics, just for you!
FYI, a pair of MyDAY briefs are just US $13,50 and trunks $15!

2(x)ist ALL STAR No-Show Brief – An Xpress Review from Guys’ Underwear Blog
The 2(x)ist ALL STAR range hit the stores back in October, and slowly but steadily it has made its way into underwear drawers across the country.
The ALL STAR buzz around the underwear community was positive right from the beginning as it usually is when the underwear powerhouse that is 2(x)ist releases new ranges. These guys know the craft of men’s underwear innovation, that’s for sure.
So, naturally, I was exited about reviewing the ALL STAR No-Show brief. Still, I didn’t really want to get my hopes up too high.
Why?
Well, much of 2(x)ist’s strength is founded in their magnificent ability to construct super comfortable, sexy, high-quality, masculine profile-enhancing underwear – like the über hot SLIQ range.
Now, the ALL STAR range does not feature the same kind enhancing pouch design. It’s a more regular and subtle range. Don’t get me wrong, it does have a contoured pouch, it’s just not as extremely enhancing as its SLIQ cousin.
If done the right way, choosing understated underwear can make you appear cooler and more confident than most. But not every brand can pull off a successful, understated pair of briefs. The risk of becoming boring and bland is high.
But don’t worry.
The 2(x)ist ALL STAR No-Show Brief is a class example of true underwear coolness, comfort, and confidence!
Design, cut, fit, and fabric – it all comes together in this wonderful brief. There can be no doubt, this is another smash hit for 2(x)ist.
Check out the review below to get all the details.
FYI, besides the brief cut, the ALL STAR range also includes a trunk and jockstrap.
| Feature | Verdict |
| Style and look | 2(x)ist tell us that the inspiration for the design and colors comes from classic sport uniforms. This adds a masculine touch and makes for an overall athletic look and feel. The cut is best described as a regular not-too-low-rise brief cut with sides measuring about 4 inches including waistband. It rests comfortably on the hips, and both back and front coverage is flawless. A quick word on the pouch. Compared to most other brands, the ALL STAR pouch is by far roomy enough to host packages of most sizes. It will give you a nice, clean round package and you will feel comfortable and supported throughout the day. If you want a pouch that has more lift and aggressive enhancement features, go the the SLIQ brief. |
| Suitable for? | The 2(x)ist ALL STAR No-Show Brief is made from one of my all-time favorite fabric compositions, 55% cotton, 37% modal, and 8% spandex. In layman’s terms this means that the fabric is extremely soft and stretchy – more so than any traditional cotton underwear. The ALL STAR brief is SO comfortable to wear and it stayed firmly in place the entire day I wore it. It put up with the most strenuous tasks with no problems. In spite of its athletic look, however, I still would recommend something more breathable for sports activities. |
| Fit and quality? | The fit was impeccable – as it always is with underwear from 2(x)ist. Then again, it’s difficult to go wrong with a stretchy modal/spandex fabric blend. I wore a size M for a size 32/33 inch waist and it fit like a glove. And you don’t have to worry about this brief carving into any love handles that may spring up over Christmas. |
| Is the price right? | Incredibly, the 2(x)ist ALL STAR brief is cheaper than the very affordable SLIQ brief. It’s just US $14! I don’t know what 2(x)ist do to keep their prices this low, but there can be no doubt that 2(x)ist is the absolutely best deal around when it comes to price vs. quality. It’s simple as that. |
| Best thing about it? | The athletic look, the price, and the astonishing comfort of the cotton/modal/spandex fabric blend make for one the best brief experiences I’ve had so far this fall/winter season. |
| Overall grade | ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I rarely, rarely hand out five stars when reviewing underwear. To achieve this grade the underwear under review has to truly stand out and offer something unique. The fact that I – for the second time in a row – award a pair of 2(x)ist briefs the best possible rating is simply a testimony to the level of underwear expertise that 2(x)ist master. When you take a look around the underwear sites and online stores the message is the same. Guys give 2(x)ist – and the 2(x)ist ALL STAR No-Show Brief in particular – raving reviews. At the moment, 2(x)ist really is the Apple brand of the underwear industry. |

Underwear models show off the best of aussieBum – on live TV!
aussieBum is at it again!
Sean Ashby recently went on national Australian TV with a bunch of underwear models to show off a string of aussieBum’s best-selling underwear and swim wear styles.
The male underwear models catwalked the brand new aussieBum WJ Pro and MyDAY collections, as well as an abundance of hot swim wear.
The clip below includes a near “wardrobe malfunction” when model Matt nearly revealed too much of himself when stripping from swim shorts to briefs!
Also, Sean Ashby gives a few underwear fashion tips!

N2N Underwear Fashion Show, video of the 2011 range!
N2N hosted a steaming fashion show a few weeks back, showing off items from their upcoming 2011 men’s underwear range.
As always when N2N hosts these things, they don’t hold back. They put all the styles up there; briefs, bikini briefs, boxer briefs, trunks, jockstraps, thongs. Whatever your preference, there’s something in there for you.
I could be mistaken – the lighting in this apparent night club setting isn’t the best – but I think I even saw some of N2N’s current bestselling underwear ranges, like the Twilight and Freedom collections, on the runway as well. And I like these two ranges, especially the Twilight brief.
I added some photos of the Twilight and Freedom styles below the video clip.
Can’t wait to try out the new 2011 styles :)

Aware Soho Round Bum Shorties – An Xpress review from Guys’ Underwear Blog
So, did you catch the videos featuring the current Aware Soho men’s underwear collection?
Well, I’ve been lucky enough to try out a couple of items from this collection, including a pair of firetruck red Round Bum Shorties – which I decode as a low rise brief.
It’s my impression that in terms of fabric, fit, and quality this style is fairly indicative of what you generally can expect from Aware Soho underwear. And when it comes to color and design, you can have it any way you want. With 37 different color variations, the Round Bum Shorties range is endless!
Having been around since 2001, Aware Soho is somewhat of a dinosaur in the world of modern men’s underwear – and you can really sense they know what they’re doing. More about that in the review :)
Check the countless cuts and designs out at www.awaresoho.com.
| Feature | Verdict |
| Style and look | As hinted above you should decode the Round Bum Shorties category as low briefs, bordering on square cuts. The low rise look is a modern classic these days, and the styles feels and looks slightly understated, yet very masculine. The wide sides and waistband, the sufficient back coverage, and – especially – the generous, double-layered pouch make for a very attractive pair of briefs. |
| Suitable for? | The Round Bum Shorties are perfect for everyday wear. They’re made from a thick-feeling 95 % cotton and 5 % Elastane – the classic fabric combination for most men’s underwear. Don’t wear it for sports activities. Perfect for guys who are looking for a clean look and who just want a solid pair of briefs. I really like the red color – It’s my no. 1 choice when it comes to solid colored underwear this season. |
| Fit and quality? | The fit was just fine. I wore a size M for a size 32/33 inch waist. No need to size up or down. After a few washes, the fabric felt a little stiff. Make sure to follow the washing instructions and consider adding fabric softener. |
| Is the price right? | The Aware Soho Round Bum Shorties are US $27 which is a fair price. The quality/price ratio of this brief is on par with most other quality briefs in the mid-range category. |
| Best thing about it? | I really like the overall cut – the combination of a low rise cut with not too narrow sides is a stunning and classic look. Combine this with a the well-designed pouch and you have one great-looking pair of briefs. |
| Overall grade | ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ The Aware Soho Round Bum Shorties are quite the looker – a well-produced pair of masculine briefs. The many color variants are a plus, too. Next time I wash them I’ll try following the instructions more carefully so that the fabric won’t feel too stiff. |

| Typical boxer brief/trunk look with legs of proper length, ending in the mid-to-upper thigh area. Satisfactory pouch room and back coverage. A modern yet conservatively looking trunk with a discrete waistband for guys who are looking for a pair of no-bullshit basic trunks. |

Piss & Vinegar Super EHW Lad’s Dirty Low Rise Brief – An Xpress Review
Following up on my review of the Piss and Vinegar Super EHW Lad’s Dirty Boxer Brief, it’s time for an Xpress review of the low rise brief from the Dirty collection.
No big surprise here, I like it!
Actually, the Dirty collection includes quite a few different color variants, and the blue and black versions (see below) are among my favorites.
| Feature | Verdict |
| Style and look | A low rise brief that’s actually not that low. I would say it’s more mid-to-low rise. Combined with the traditional fly pouch, the not-so-low-rise cut adds a touch of class and masculinity. The Dirty low rise brief covers everything up nicely, including the entire butt area. But remember, the classic cut is contrasted by the print design, which is funky and provocative, regardless of whether you go for the heterosexual or homosexual themes. |
| Suitable for? | Most everyday purposes including nights out. Whoever sees you in these babies is bound to raise their eyebrows. This is underwear that wants to be seen. As this is a cotton-based brief, though, you shouldn’t wear it for sports activities. |
| Fit and quality? | A great fit, no doubt. The soft Pima cotton blend feels incredible, has plenty of stretch and doesn’t come off as too tight. I wore a size M for a size 32/33 inch waist. No need to size up or down. |
| Is the price right? | The Piss & Vinegar Super EHW Lad’s Dirty Low Rise Brief is US $28 at International Jock. There are cheaper alternatives out there in the print design category, but Piss & Vinegar take valuable points for the high-quality fabric blend. Also, you won’t find other print designs even remotely resembling the Dirty collection. This makes the brief unique and worth the extra dollars. |
| Best thing about it? | There can be no doubt. It’s the controversial print design. It’s what sets P&V apart from competing brands. You can get P&V underwear in solid colors, but why would you? P&V is a statement brand and should be worn by guys who has the balls to cause a stir with their underwear. |
| Overall grade | ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I’ve seen a lot of underwear with fun print designs, but P&V has taken this category to a new, shocking level. The P&V guys are true provoking artists in my opinion. And when art comes in in the shape of high quality men’s underwear, I won’t hesitate to roll out all five stars. |

Groovin’ Cotton Hip Brief – A review
Today I’m wrapping up my series of posts on Groovin’ with a review of the Cotton Hip Brief.
Since my last review I’ve temporarily relocated to the fascinating city of Bangkok, Thailand, where I’m spending a few days vacationing. I think it’s only fitting that this last review (for now) of Japanese-based Groovin’s men’s underwear collection is written in the heart of Asia :)
The style I’ve been wearing is the Cotton Hip Brief which in terms of style and cut is identical with the Groovin’ Low Waist Hip Brief. The main difference is – as it says in the name – that the Cotton Hip Brief is made from a classic cotton blend where the Low Waist Hip Brief was primarily Nylon-based.
What kind of implications this has on fit and the overall impression of the brief, you can read below.
Oh and I just want to throw in a little teaser… Remember to check back in over the next couple of weeks where I’ll be reviewing an abundance of great men’s swim wear, firmly tested on the beaches of South Thailand. This will include my ultimate guide to the best Aussiebum swim wear styles.
Now, all eyes on Groovin’.
Style
As mentioned, the cut and style of the Cotton Hip Brief is identical to its Nylon sibling, so go check out my review of that for an extensive account of the type of style we’re dealing with.
Pouch design
I was impressed by the pouch design of the Nylon version of this brief, and the pouch of cotton version is equally comfortable and has room enough for most men.
The pouch is double-layered with a subtle center seam. The double layered design is an important comfort factor to many, and it’s often a tell-tale sign of proper production quality.
Of course, cotton isn’t as stretchy as Nylon. This means that you can’t expect the fabric to mold and adjust to your specific package to the extent as was the case with the Groovin’ Low Waist Hip Brief.
That said, I could find few flaws, it any, with the pouch design of the Cotton Hip Brief.
Back design
When it comes to the back design of brief, the fact that it’s cotton-based also means that you should be slightly more attentive when choosing the right size. This is a low-rise brief, and while it’s not skimpy, you should be make sure that you get proper back coverage.
An everyday cotton brief should cover the entire area of the butt and not reveal cracks nor crawl up, in, up, or down. I know I say this in almost every review, but to me failing to provide complete coverage can really easily squash the possibility of success for a pair of men’s briefs.
I found that I achieved proper coverage with the Cotton Hip Brief, but next time I get a pair, I would consider sizing up one size – more about that in the “Fit” section.
Waistband
The waistband is slim, measuring about 1,2 inches in width, with sets of Groovin’ logos embroided.
I wore the gray version of the Cotton Hip Brief and the waistband and leg openings were black, which complements rather than contrasts the gray base color of the brief. The waistband does have a thin orange stripe running across the top, which is a nice and subtle colorful addition to the overall dark and traditional impression.
The waistband is neither too tight, nor too loose, and this combined with the low-rise profile mean you won’t experience any muffin top effect.
The waistband has a production information flap stitched on the inside rear of the waistband, which can easily be cut off for optimal comfort.
Fabric quality
It comes as no surprise that the Cotton Hip Brief is made from a 95 % Cotton / 5 % Spandex fabric blend. Not so much fuss in that. The fabric feels soft against the skin and is an optimal choice for most everyday purposes. I’ve washed the brief a few times, and the colors and elasticity are still nicely preserved.
One note, though. As I am currently in an overly humid climate here in Thailand (it’s rain season – reminding me of when I lived in Florida) I prefer to wear the Groovin’ Nylon brief. It’s simply a more breathable choice when the weather is hot and sweat is desperately escaping from every part of your body.
Color
The gray and black variants of the Groovin’ Cotton Hip Brief is the perfect choice if you’re looking for classic colors that don’t draw too much attention. But rest assured that there are plenty of other colors to choose from if you want more spunk.
Go for the blue, orange, or green version to spice up your underwear drawer with some funky new underwear. See more color examples at the bottom of the post.
Fit
I touched upon it earlier. As I usually do, I wore a size M for a 32/33 inch waist. I would advise you to consider sizing up one size if you’re usually in the border area between two sizes. Other than this, I found the Cotton Hip Brief to be a great fit.
Price
Groovin’ is a value-for-money brand, and at a very fair unit price of US $16.99 you can easily get a few pairs. Get it at Groovin’s own web shop.

Groovin’ Low Waist Hip Brief – A review
Remember Groovin’, the all new Japanese men’s underwear brand whose mission it is to inject fun and vibrancy into everyday lives of modern men?
I’ve been looking forward to trying on a pair of Groovin’ briefs because I’m quite the novice when it comes to Asian underwear design.
So now’s the time!
Over the next few days I’ll be reviewing two pair of hip briefs (made from different fabric blends) as well as a pair of trunks from Groovin’s current collection.
Check out my review of the Groovin’ Cup Boxer! And if you’re into cotton, check out my review of the Groovin’ Hip Brief.
Today, I’m taking a closer look at the Low Waist Hip Brief. And judging from the overall impression of this brief, I will happily endorse Groovin’ as a brand. Hopefully we’ll see more brands like this emerge from Asia in the future.
So far Groovin’ can be bought in brick stores in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Thailand (where I’m headed in a few days – I’ll make sure to look for stores carrying Groovin’).
If you’re not stopping by any of these countries in the near future, and seeing how 60 % of you guys buy your underwear online, you’ll be happy to know that you can get all of their products from the official Groovin’ online shop as well as Deal by Ethan.
With that, let’s move on to the review of the Groovin’ Low Waist Hip Brief.
Style
The style of this brief is exactly what it says on the packaging, a quite low waist/low-rise brief. I would say this cut is somewhere between a bikini and regular brief as the sides of the brief measure 2 ½ inches at its narrowest including the waistband.
I wouldn’t say the brief comes off as skimpy since in terms of front- and back coverage it does its job just fine. If you’re an experienced low-rise kind of guy, the Groovin’ Low Waist Hip Brief will a be fine addition to your underwear drawer.
Pouch design
The pouch is very well-designed with a discrete center seam (which I actually didn’t notice until I took the brief off after having worn them a whole day). The double-layered, extremely stretchy and breathable fabric from which the pouch is made ensure an absolute pleasurable experience. My stuff was kept firmly in placed at a comfortable cool temperature all day. Well done!
Back design
With very low-rise underwear you have to be careful about the back design, especially with briefs. Again, the Groovin’ Hip Brief offers just the right amount of coverage. The stretchiness of the fabric (which I will get back to) certainly helps to achieve this effect along with the properly designed leg openings. Conclusion: The briefs stayed in place all day, didn’t ride up or down and I didn’t have to adjust them at any point.
Waistband
The waistband is slim and well-proportioned, measuring about 1,2 inches in width, with funky and suggestive Groovin’ logos embroided. The waistband is neither too tight nor loose and helped keep the briefs firmly in place on the hip.
The waistband has a production information flap stitched on the inside rear of the waistband, which can easily be cut off for optimal comfort.
Fabric quality
Here we go, the key feature of the Groovin’ Low Waist Hip Brief. It’s made from an excellent and highly breathable 92 % Nylon / 8 % Lycra fabric blend. This is the secret behind the impressive stretchiness which does wonders for the pouch and back of the brief.
It also ensures a wonderful fit and makes the brief ideal for sports activities where it’s key to whip moisture from the body. That said, I wouldn’t hesitate to also wear it for everyday purposes as an alternative to regular cotton-based underwear. Especially on hot days.
Color
I wore the bright blue variant of the Groovin’ Low Waist Hip Brief. It has a white waistband as well as white leg openings which create a nice contrast. No less than 9 color variants are available, including the all white traditional brief and a bright orange version for guys who enjoy a little more funk :)
Fit
I wore a size M for a 32” waist and the brief fit fine, though it looked a little small when I unpacked it. However, the stretchy fabric is very forgiving and I don’t think there should be a need to size up or down.
Price
The Groovin’ Low Waist Hip Brief is a true underwear bargain at just US $16,50. Compared to rivaling brands in that price range Groovin’ is great value for money. So try it out!
Get it at Groovin’s web shop.

Mundo Unico Futuro Men’s Underwear: Columbian Coolness. With Video!
Mundo Unico is one of my favorite South American men’s underwear brands. These days the Aussies are stealing all the attention on the men’s underwear fashion scene, so it’s a pleasure to see Columbian brands like Mundo Unico, Gigo, and Clever Moda make a serious effort to put their continent on the fashion map.
This week a new Mundo Unico video surfaced introducing the brand’s latest 2010 collection, Futuro. The Mundo Unico Futuro collection includes every cut you could ever wish for, including boxer briefs, trunks, briefs, low rise briefs, tanga briefs, and thongs.
Watch the video at the bottom of the post.
From the video and Mundo Unico’s official website it’s clear that the Futuro collection builds on MU’s trademark design, which is influenced by many variations of horizontal stripes and patterns, angled in the pouch area to provide emphasis and contrast.
A pair of Mundo Unico briefs are usually around US$30, which isn’t cheap. But then again, this is a premium quality brand. I recommend you get your MUs at Dead Good Undies, which have a generous selection Mundo Unico styles.
Now for the video. It’s a very well-produced video in the usual behind-the-scenes format. The video features a photo shoot of promotional pics for the new Futoro collection. The video features a lot of nice closeups of the various styles.
If you like the video or just want more of MU, you should check out the 2010 Mundo Unico fashion show from earlier this year. Also check out their runway show at the 2009 SoBe Men’s Show.
