Brief of the year 2012: Nominee #6 – Es Collection Modal Open Fly Brief
No field of nominees for Guys’ Underwear Blog’s Brief of the Year 2012 would be complete without at least one pair of modal briefs.
Enter: Es Collection Modal Open Fly Brief!
We have been loyal fans of ES Collection for ages. The Spanish underwear brand has so much attitude and a refreshingly liberal approach to their marketing and brand identity that often and in no subtle ways play on gay scenarios.
ES Collection’s underwear collections are many and range from mainstream, yet stylish, cotton undies to bold and provocative sexywear. In the light of this, the pair of briefs we’ve chosen for this year’s vote is actually quite classy and subtle in its look.
But compare it to an average pair of briefs and the Modal Open Fly Brief is still lightyears ahead in terms of design. The blue/red color contrasting, the old-school open fly pouch design, and the metallic brand tag will leave you convinced that you’re wearing high-fashion undies.
And then it’s made from 95 % modal. Really, this is the best feature and makes the brief such a pleasure to wear. Modal is by far our favorite fabric for underwear, especially underwear you have to wear for long days of work.
When, at the same time, brands like ES Collection manage to make the underwear look fun and fashionable, what’s not to like?? For that reason we nominate the Modal Open Fly Brief for the title of Brief of the Year 2012.
The brief costs $58.50 USD and can be bought over at www.escollection.es.

Brief of the year 2012: Nominee #5 – Teamm8 Block Brief
Sometimes all it takes for you to order a new pair of undies is a couple of awesome promotion pics. For us, this was the case with nominee #5 for Guys’ Underwear Blog’s Brief of the year 2012, the awesome Teamm8 Block Brief.
When we were first introduced to this updated version of Teamm8′s successful block brief it was through a bunch of super hot promotion pictures featuring French Foreign Legion recruit, Matt. The pictures underlined Teamm8′s ability to produce and promote beautiful men’s underwear and successfully persuaded us to include the brief in this year’s field of nominees.
Made from a standard 95 % cotton fabric blend, the key feature of this beautiful brief is its attention-grabbing wide metallic waistband with stripe detail and single block Teamm8 logo. Wide waistbands are very effective at making briefs look less skimpy and more masculine. And Teamm8 truly excels at making the Block brief look classy and attractive. You sort get the feeling that this brief could be worn by men of classes, from style-conscious businessmen to bohemian hipster types.
We just love it.
The Teamm8 Block Brief is $34 USD and can be purchased over at www.teamm8.com.

Brief of the year 2012: Nominee #4 – N2N Performance X Brief
In our presentation of the nominees for Brief of the Year 2012 we have now come to number 4, the Performance X Brief by N2N Bodywear.
In a vote for the best brief a man can get it wouldn’t make sense not to include one of the many great briefs by what is, quite frankly, one of most interesting and innovating American underwear brands at the moment.
N2N has been a front-runner for years in the category of profile-enhancing and sexy men’s underwear. Take a look at the N2N website, and you will find a variety of cuts and designs unlike few other men’s underwear brands. With their obvious passion for fashion, along with their willingness to explore totally new designs, N2N manages to reinvent themselves season after season.
Deciding which N2N brief to include in this year’s vote was no easy task. We finally chose the Performance X Brief – for several reasons.
This year’s vote include briefs made from wide range of fabrics. The Performance X Brief, too, has a very distinct mesh fabric composition consisting of 96% micro polyester and 4% spandex. Translation: It is an excellent choice for guys who want maximum ventilation. The low-rise profile of the brief along with nHANCE pouch make it an obvious choice for wearing under low-rise jeans or shorts on hot summer nights.
You can even wear them for sports activities as this fabric type is excellent for wicking moisture from your skin.
Finally, just look at it! It is, plain and simple, a drop-dead gorgeous brief that accentuates the male body in all the right ways.
The brief is $27 USD and you can get over at www.n2nbodywear.com.

Brief of the year 2012: Nominee #3 – 2(x)ist Military Sport Brief
Let’s take a look at our third nominee for the title of Brief of the Year 2012, the exquisite 2(x)ist Military Sport Brief.
We reviewed the 2(x)ist Military collection a few months ago here at GUB, and Val especially praised it for its superb fit. Another thing we love about the Military collection is the versatile look and design. You can wear these undies for all sorts of purposes. Wear them for everyday purposes or wear them for a night out, either way you’ll be looking hot and stylish. For these reasons the collection received a 5 star grade in our review.
Especially the Military Sport Brief took our breath away.
2(x)ist simply have perfected the construction of this, their signature brief design. The dimensions and composition of this brief are perfect. We tried the military green variant.
Here’s what Val said of the brief in his review,
The waistband has a metallic silver shiny band with three thin green lines in the color of the underwear. That band color compliments the green really well, completely highlighting the military look. The elastic band is about an inch and a half so it’s large but not too big. The front has a lined and contoured pouch which is a good size, neither too small nor overly large, so it provides support and comfort. The brief has a fully covered back made with one piece of material. The strip between your legs is not too thick, so as to cause bunching, but wide enough to keep you covered; about 2 and a half inches. The front pouch and back are connected at the front hip by a small bridge of fabric giving it 2(x)ist’s signature “sports” look. The underwear is trimmed by the same colored fabric with three rows of stitching in a darker, almost black, thread. They simply look and feel great!.
2(x)ist is an underwear superbrand, favored by celebrities around the world. And we get why. The 2(x)ist Military Sport Brief is $20 and you can get it over at UnderBriefs.com.
If this is your choice for Brief of the Year 2012, then simply cast your vote in the poll below. Once the vote is over we will send off a pair of the winning undies to five lucky guys.

Brief of the year 2012: Nominee #2 – Jake Joseph Classic Brief
It’s time to check out nominee number 2 for the title of Guys’ Underwear Blog’s official Brief of the Year 2012.
The brand in question is Jake Joseph. And if you check out its ratings on Amazon you’ll see that we are not the only ones crazy about it.
This is a brief that we have come to love over the past year. Especially Valdamar was ecstatic in his review of the Jake Joseph Classic Brief, awarding it a 5 star grade.
The comfort and feel along with the sophistication of the design was the best thing about the Classic Brief, according to Valdamar. This is a pair of underwear that accomplishes its purpose with out trying too hard.
And in this world of low-rise briefs it’s nice to see that some brands still manage to put together a mid-rise brief that is both sexy and comfortable without looking like something only your grandpa would wear.
The fit of the Jake Joseph Classic is extraordinary due to the fact that the fabric is so resilient. It holds snuggly to your body and keeps its shape even with extended wear. The fabric is a high quality 95% Bamboo / Viscose 5% elastic and the construction is just spotless.
