BR4SS Fitted Boxer: An Xpress Review by Guys’ Underwear Blog

A few weeks ago we introduced you to a new brand called BR4SS and now it’s time for a review to help you get an even better feel for it.
As I said in the initial introduction, BR4SS may look more like boxers than your average pair of designer underwear, but the gap between them is much larger than you’d think.
When I first took the pair out of its well-designed packaging, my first thought was, “Wow! They are very soft and stretchy!” That, for me, illustrated the first major difference between BR4SS and boxers: boxers usually have no give, which can be a problem if they get bunched up and you try to make a broad movement.
I didn’t hesitate a minute to put them on and see how they fit, and I’m glad I didn’t, because they were amazingly comfortable. And before I could wear them for very long at all, I could tell that they would live up to the statement that they were “more supportive than boxers and less restrictive than briefs.” The hybrid structure is very unique to BR4SS underwear, so if you’re in the market for something different, look no further than BR4SS!

Because the cut is meant to give a tapered fit, the more you can accentuate that feature, the better. I am a small person so the small fit me well; however, my friend who is usually between medium and large wore a medium and found the fit tighter to the skin (in a good way). Because of this observation (and as per the recommendation on the BR4SS site), I would advise sizing down if you’re unsure. Chances are they won’t be too tight, and even if they are a bit small, the stretch of the fabric will help relieve some of that. In terms of quality, BR4SS is top of the line. There were no loose strings, and everything is so well put-together that I know these will last me a long time! BR4SS will take anything you throw at it, so don’t be afraid to explore! ;) |

Today, Chris tells us why we should all treat ourselves to a pair of Burberry briefs in 2011. He’s got me convinced, that’s for sure.

Ah, the unmistakable tartan pattern that adorns almost every item the company sells—underwear is no exception. Burberry began in 1856 as a small company in England that produced outerwear.
The brand has blossomed over the years into its current image with an almost cult-like following. Today, Burberry produces an entire range of products, including, of course, a line of men’s underwear.
Burberry does sell their underwear online although it can be hard to find. The best places to visit are Burberry.com and department stores’ sites such as Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, and Neiman Marcus (or you could always actually go to these stores).
If you’re not one to typically peruse the mall in search of underwear, it may come as a shock that Burberry sells underwear; they don’t advertise on television (at least in the United States), and their print ads are usually filled with fully clad models. I own two pairs from this brand and I have to say that Burberry may be one of the best-kept secrets in men’s underwear.
The underwear comes in the standard four different styles: trunk, brief, boxer brief, and boxer and typically run from $28 to $45 depending on the cut. Although these prices may be slightly above average, the quality of the underwear makes up for it. I own both the trunk and the brief and they are some of the first pairs I reach for.

The fabric is a soft but stretchy blend of 92% cotton and 8% elastane, which means that you can wear them all day and completely forget that you have anything on. Their stitching is also solid and leaves no rough edges that could cause itching.
What these pairs have going for them in comfort is matched by their subtle but sexy style. Although Burberry takes a classic, refined approach to their men’s underwear (e.g., not too many patterns outside of the occasional tartan appearance, solid colors), both the trunks and the briefs fit snugly and retain their shape through many washings.
The briefs, in particular, are cut in a way to accentuate the male body: they are low rise with a semi-high cut side and the perfect amount of fabric for the backside (so there’s nothing hanging out nor any sagging material).
So go ahead; step away from your usual preferred brands for a moment to try a pair from Burberry. They won’t leave you disappointed.

My gift for you today is a review of a brand new label I haven’t tried before! Exiting, huh?
Oh, and it’s a pair of boxer briefs – a quite refreshing detour from my otherwise narrow path of briefs.
The product in question is the Smuggling Duds Boxer Shorts (i.e. boxer briefs). Not sure why they call them boxer shorts…
If you’re unfamiliar with Smuggling Duds you should go check out my introductory post and see pictures of a bunch of their designs.
UK-based Smuggling Duds bring many interesting designs features to the table. Or back to the table, I should say.
One thing is the buttoned fly. It’s been a pleasure revisiting this classic pouch feature.
Overall, the Smuggling Duds Boxer Shorts has been a pleasant acquaintanceship.

| Style and look | Just to reiterate my point from the introduction. Obviously, the Smuggling Duds Boxer Shorts are in fact a classic pair of boxer briefs, or tights as they are also know. Boxer briefs are always a safe and youthful choice of underwear. It’s probably the most preferred cut by men under 25 these days. When a cut becomes super popular and mainstream it is usually in danger of becoming boring and plain. So make sure to always go for interesting colors or patterns. What I like about the Smuggling Duds Boxer Shorts is the fact that the design team has chosen a fully functional buttoned pouch design, which gives this boxer brief a touch of vintage class. Also, the designers have added a clever little pocket on the front of the boxer brief to fit small items in, like an iPod Nano or perhaps a condom. This is a fun design addition and something that I’ve seen several brands do over the last seasons. |
| Suitable for? | Made from a standard 90 % cotton / 5 % Elastane fabric blend there are no unexpected surprises when wearing the Smuggling Duds Boxer Shorts. They are a great choice for all kinds of everyday purposes, exept sports activites. |
| Fit and quality? | The fit was just fine. Neither the waistband nor the legs felt too tight and provided adequate support. I wore a size M for a 32 / 33 inch waist. There is a product information patch stitched to the inside rear of the waistband. It didn’t bother me too much, but after a few wears I did choose to cut it off, which was no hassle at all. |
| Is the price right? | The Smuggling Duds Boxer Shorts can be ordered directly from the brand’s own web shop and it will set you back around US $28. This is a slightly premium price tag but that’s just the way things are if you want to stand out and wear imported, European underwear. |
| Best thing about it? | The buttoned pouch and the cool little pocket are what makes this boxer brief stand out from the horde of competing brands and styles out there. I actually used the pocket for my new tiny iPod Nano when cleaning the house the other day. Practical, indeed :) |

Acne underwear for men. New summer 2010 styles. Video and pics.
July 22nd, 2010Remember Acne, the Swedish fashion brand (whose name doesn’t translate well to English)?
I’m not sure what to make of Acne when it comes to their men’s underwear collection. It’s kind of limited – they carry regular trunks, briefs, and boxers. And as far I can tell all the styles are made from standard cotton blends. I can’t really speak of the quality since I have yet to try a pair out, but from what I can tell all Acne underwear is made from standard cotton blends.
The Acne styles all look pretty harmless, though the boxer is kind of funky with the wrinkled fabric look.

And don’t miss Acne’s latest promotion video featuring a guy in underwear playing around with a bunch of huge balls. Exercise balls that is. Get you mind out of the gutter, people :)
Anyway, Acne men’s underwear is premium priced, typically ranging between $39 for a pair of briefs to a whopping $59 for the boxers.

UW men’s underwear. Pics and and fashion show videos. Viva Brazil!
April 3rd, 2010UW is a Brazilian brand that I was totally unfamiliar with until recently. Via Finíssimo and Made In Brazil this men’s and women’s fashion brand made its way onto my radar a couple of days ago.
Specifically, it was the video footage and still photos from the 2010 underwear fashion show by UW that caught my eye. I’ve gathered a selection of the best pics as well as the fashion video below. I also included the 2009 UW underwear fashion show video as it shows off more of their men’s underwear styles.
I’ve been trying to dig up some info on UW, and especially their men’s underwear collection, but even a fairly persistent effort on Google (including some very amusing Portuguese-to-English Google translations) didn’t give much of a result. So if any of you guys have some info on UW, please share it in the comments.
The UW men’s underwear styles look really high-end, and I’d love to get some more info in terms of fabric blends, colors, styles, and so on. Once I get it, I’ll share it with you here on the blog.
The styles included in the videos include briefs, square cuts, boxer briefs, trunks, long underwear, and boxer shorts.

March 30th, 2010Acne is part of a rare breed of interesting Scandinavian men’s underwear brands, which also includes quality brands like Björn Borg and NUN (Nation Up North).
Swedish-based Acne is a fashion company that’s been in business since 1996. Like Björn Borg and Calvin Klein, underwear is just part of their product lineup.
In fact, Acne doesn’t carry a wide collection of men’s underwear, just basic trunks, boxer shorts, and briefs. So what makes them worthy of notice?
Well, this blog is a celebration of great men’s underwear fashion and videos. And in spite of only carrying very few styles and cuts, Acne has done some quite funny and outstanding promotion videos.
Though it doesn’t seem that Acne has done any videos lately, the existing ones have already attracted more than half a million views on Youtube. Below are three of the most popular videos featuring Acne men’s underwear.
Acne is a premium underwear brand, and a pair of briefs is priced at about $38. I haven’t got any experience with the quality of Acne men’s underwear, so if you do, please share your experience with me in the comments.
The videos feature briefs, boxer briefs/trunks, and boxer shorts. The male underwear models in these videos are doing all sorts of fun activities in their underwear like dancing, doing gymnastics, jumping on trampolines.
