2Wink Australia briefs and trunks: An Xpress Review by Guys’ Underwear Blog

By Jeff

How is it that I only recently discovered 2Wink Australia? This brand, which was founded in 2005, offers several lines of fun and attractive underwear and swimwear and ships to over 30 countries. I should also mention that they offer free shipping!

For this review I wore three samples, all of which are made from a comfortable fabric that’s 92% cotton and 8% spandex.

80’s Trunk

2wink australia men's underwear review - 80s trunk

These are a fusion of the fun of the 80s and the technology of today. This pair features some cool retro elements with the pink and blue horizontal stripes in the waistband and pink in the leg opening. But everything else is a product of modern fabric, fit and style.

It’s styled in a way that offers support in the front and comfortably hugs the back. And the fit is a pleasant surprise – frankly, it makes my butt look great. Somehow, the fabric shows separation in the cheeks without giving a full wedgie.

Sure, you can feel the fabric pressing between your cheeks, but I didn’t find it to be uncomfortable. Instead, I found these trunks to be sexy and fun.

Candy Brief

2wink australia men's underwear review - Candy Brief

These come in pink, green and yellow. I must admit that when I saw the pair of pink underwear in the package, I didn’t expect to like them. But I was so wrong. I wore them to work yesterday and was impressed by the all-around level of comfort and style.

In fact, I kept forgetting that I had them on… Yes, they’re that comfortable! The fabric is ultra-soft and the fit is sexy. They adjusted to my body and I never felt any tightness or pulling. If I had to change one thing about them it would only be to reduce the font size of the brand name on the waist band. But that’s probably just a personal thing.

Hung Downunder Brief

2wink australia men's underwear review - Hung downunder

Offering a lower rise than the Candy Briefs, the Hung Downunder Briefs come with a contour pouch that in the words of 2Wink “support any size man in comfort”. They come in black, but you can choose a waistband that has the brand name written in either red, blue or green. They’re almost as comfortable as the Candy Briefs and are a great choice for guys who prefer the sex appeal of low-rise, but aren’t looking for bold colors.

What Verdict
Style and look? All of the styles I tried offered a healthy amount of sex appeal.
Suitable for? Suitable for everyday wear, workouts and dates.
Fit and quality? The fit of each line is different, but all are comfortable (The Candy Brief is the most comfortable). High quality fabric and construction.
Is the price right? The 80’s Trunk sells for $22.19 USD, the Candy Brief is $20.34 USD and the Hung Downunder Brief is $21.23 USD.  Considering the quality and the FREE SHIPPING, the price is right.
Best thing about it? For me, the best thing about the 80’s Trunk was the cut.  For the Candy Brief it was the comfort and for the Hung Downunder Brief it was the low-rise.
Overall grade ★★★★☆
A solid 4 star score. Great job 2Wink!

Introducing 2wink Walkabout briefs and trunks

These are the months when Aussie underwear brands flourish!

One of our favorite Australian brands is 2wink. They recently released their brand new Walkabout collection.

Before we get to the sizzling pictures below, though, lets dwell by the name of this brand for a moment.

If you think the name is clever of spelling the word “twink”, then think again. In fact, 2wink Australia’s brand name was conceived from the concept to wink your eye (hence to wink). Combined with that the company produces Aussie made products the result is 2-wink Australia.

There you go. We feel more enlightened.

Now, the new Walkabout collection. It’s available as briefs and trunks and is made from 92 % cotton and 8 % spandex. The design is influenced by Australian Aboriginal culture and the term known as “Walkabout”.

In fact, the waistband is designed by Australian Aboriginal artist Peter Mulchay.

And here’s a real treat, buy your 2wink Walkabout undies over at www.2wink.com.au and you’ll get worldwide free shipping. The trunks are about $20 USD.

Enjoy the pictures below. They feature male underwear model Lee Stram and was shot by Paul Dedona Photography.

2wink Space Cadet trunk – A review

2wink men’s underwear has been on the radar of Guys’ Underwear Blog for while now. It’s one of the fast-growing Australian brands which have created a booming market for fashionable and affordable men’s underwear.

My sources in the underwear community tell me that 2wink is selling more than 80.000 pairs of underwear every year in spite of only being around since 2005. Impressive! I also hear that the brand is moving into the swim wear category, which – though not my main domain – which will be interesting to follow.

I always make it a point to applaud success stories within the men’s underwear industry. 2wink is an example of this and there’s no doubt that the brand is contributing to a new world order within men’s mainstream underwear fashion.

Today I will be reviewing the new 2wink Space Cadet trunk and I can tell you now that like the 2wink Cool Devil briefs and Hot Angel trunks, this trunk doesn’t disappoint.

Style
Like its cousin, the Hot Angel, the 2wink Space Cadet trunk is a low-rise trunk. This means if you’re usually a trunk and/or boxer brief kind of guy, you’ll feel right at home in this style. Generally, the trunk style is becoming increasingly popular. Guys often enjoy the shorter legs compared to the traditional boxer brief.

If you’re contemplating switching from boxer briefs to trunks, the 2wink Space Cadet would be perfect choice.

Pouch design
The Space Cadet trunk comes with a standard-sized pouch, which provided me with adequate support the entire day I wore it. There’s plenty of room for the average package, and as there’s no invasive lift or pushup functionality, this trunk will serve you just fine as underwear for everyday purposes.

Back design
The fact that the Space Cadet trunk is relatively low rise and has short legs means that your butt is always nicely framed. All the 2wink trunks I have ever worn, including this one, are carefully produced so that they don’t become too low rise. Extremely low rise men’s underwear will eventually reveal your butt crack, which is a major fashion no no. Luckily I didn’t experience this with the Space Cadet trunk.

Waistband
The  trunk comes with a 1,5″ white waistband with the a special Space Cadet 2wink logo imprinted in lime and purple colors. As is the standard with 2wink underwear, the waistband has a product information patch stitched on the inside rear of the trunks. The stitching, however, is very well done and you won’t notice the patch at all.

Fabric quality
The fabric blend is the standard 92 % (nice quality) cotton and 8 % spandex mix, and it does the job fine. It feels soft and quite comfortable to wear, which is a prerequisite for men’s underwear that’s supposed to be worn all day long. One small thing, though, like with the Hot Angel style, the 2wink Space Cadet trunk could have used a little more stretch in the fabric.

Color
The color of the trunk is a funky dark purple. If you get itchy with all the bright-colored men’s underwear coming out this season, the Space Cadet style will be a good choice for you. Even if you’re usually a little conservative when it comes to underwear designs and colors, this trunk with its subtle space theme and classic dark base color might just be what you’re underwear drawer has been longing for.

Fit
I wore a US size M for a 32″ waist, and the trunk fit was just fine. No need to size up or down.

Price
You can get the 2wink Space Cadet trunk at 2wink’s own web shop.  At just US$18.75, the price of the trunk is one of its best features :)

2wink Cool Devil Brief – A Review

The review of the 2wink Cool Devil Brief is the second post in a series of two, so remember to also check out the review and pictures of the 2wink Hot Angel trunks.

In the first post you’ll find all the information you need about this cheeky Australian men’s underwear brand. I am actually beginning to be quite intrigued by 2wink and their marketing tactics… I just read about their upcoming American promotion stunt where 2wink will be giving away up to 1,000 new pairs of its underwear lines.

In order to participate, guys must submit videos or photos of themselves cutting up or destroying an old pair of brand name underwear that they own – and in exchange will receive a free pair of 2wink underwear. I simply love that idea! Out with the old and in with the new :)

The 2wink “Cut Up Your Old Underwear” campaign will launch on March 15, 2010, and run for 14 days, and you can cut up any underwear brand you want. You want in? Go visit 2wink to find out more.

Anyway, let’s get on with the review of the 2wink Cool Devil Brief.

Also, don’t miss my review of the 2wink Space Cadet trunk.

2wink Australia Cool Devil

Style
The 2wink Cool Devil Brief is a classic brief design riding low around the waist without being at all skimpy or revealing any unnecessary cracks :) The style is a comfortable choice, and I wore it for an entire day without it riding up. It stayed in place without the need for readjustments.

Pouch design
As was the case with the 2wink Hot Angel trunks, the pouch design is perfectly proportioned, keeping you stuff in place just fine. I might even argue that the Cool Devil Brief does the job of adding support slightly better than the trunk. You can easily choose this style for everyday purposes.

If you’re very well endowed or just want extra room for your boys, you might wanna go for underwear with extra pouch room. But beware, such styles are not for most men.

Back design
The backside of the brief is excellently proportioned to cover your buttocks.  I find that this is an extremely important feature of men’s underwear, which is meant to be worn an entire day. Underwear, and especially briefs, that doesn’t cover the buttocks completely has a tendency to ride up where the sun don’t shine – and you’ll be running around pulling them out from between you but cheeks all day. Not cool, and luckily, you won’t experience that with the Cool Devil Brief.

Waistband
As its trunk cousin, The Cool Devil brief comes with a red/orange/yellow 1,5″ waistband with the 2wink logo imprinted. The waistband has a product information patch stitched on the inside rear of the briefs. However, the stitching is done so that you won’t notice it at all.

Fabric quality
The fabric blend is a typical 92 % cotton and 8 % spandex mix, and it does the job slightly better with Cool Devil Briefs than was the case with the Hot Angel trunks. I hardly noticed a need for extra stretch during the day I wore it.

Color
The color of the 2wink Cool Devil is a clean white that nicely contrasts the bright read and orange colors of the waistband and leg openings. I am not sure how the colors will hold up in wash, but I would recommend that you wash the briefs with other whites as preservation of the white color must be your prime objective. No one likes used-to-be-white-now-slightly-gray men’s underwear.

Fit
I wore a US size M for a 32″ waist, and the briefs fit perfectly. No need to size up or down.

Price
The 2wink Cool Devil briefs can be ordered online and will cost you about $27, which is a premium, but appropriate, price for underwear of this quality.

2wink Hot Angel trunks – A review

2wink is an Australian-based men’s underwear brand that I am really excited to review. Today and tomorrow I will be reviewing two of my favorite styles; the 2wink Hot Angel trunk, and the Cool Devil brief.

First up is the Hot Angel trunk (which 2wink slightly misleading is labeling boxer shorts). In fact this style is a traditional low-rise men’s trunk but that only makes it more appealing.

If you wanna skip to the actual review, scroll down. First I just wanna give you guys some background information on 2wink as brand.

Also, don’t miss my review of the 2wink Space Cadet trunk.

2wink introduced
2wink have been around since 2005 and it’s one of those Australian brands that just make men’s underwear a little more interesting than especially some of their European competitors. The brand is a real e-generation men’s underwear manufacturer selling their briefs, boxer briefs, tanga briefs, and trunks on their own website.

Also, if you’ve been following Guys’ Underwear Blog, you know that I always applaud underwear brands that use videos to promote their styles. Though it’s been a while since their last Youtube video, 2wink gets an A for effort. We need to encourage men’s underwear brands to do more and better videos, guys!

Anyway, let’s get on the review of the 2wink Hot Angel – Enemy of Evil (majestic metaphor, huh, haha).

Style
As I mentioned in the beginning, 2wink markets the Hot Angel style as a pair of boxer shorts, but that really isn’t what they are (in my terminology). A low-rise trunk label, bordering on boxer briefs, would be more accurate. Judge for yourself in the video clip below. The trunk style is contemporary and popular and will look good on any man, so if you are looking for an underwear gift for that special someone, a pair of trunks will always be a safe choice.

Beware, though, of the low-rise characteristics, which may be quite a new (but definitely nice) feeling if you haven’t tried this type of men’s underwear before.

Pouch design
The pouch design of 2wink Hot Angel Trunk is well proportioned and will fit most men perfectly. I wore the Hot Angel trunk for an entire day and found it to provide all the support I needed. The “boys” weren’t crammed together, neither were they dangling around. This kind of pouch fit will make for a good choice if you are looking for some proper quality everyday underwear.

Back design
Partly due to their low-rise design, the backside of the 2wink Hot Angel trunks will accentuate your butt, and doesn’t want that :) I also like the fact that the backside doesn’t come with a center seam because, together with the nicely tight trunk legs, it will provide great support of your buttocks, thus giving you a nice, round silhouette.

Waistband
The Hot Angel trunks come with a 1,5″ waistband with the 2wink logo imprinted in blue. The waistband has a product information patch stitched on the inside rear of the trunks. Sometimes such a patch can very annoying, but in this case the stitching is very well done and you won’t notice it at all.

Fabric quality
The fabric blend is a typical 92 % cotton and 8 % spandex mix, and it does the job fine. It feels soft and quite comfortable to wear. With low-rise trunks and briefs it’s important to have plenty of stretch, and I have to agree with the review by Menswear Review that this fabric could do with a little more stretch.

Color
The actual color of the 2wink Hot Angel trunk is a classic and soothing blue shade (a little darker than in the promotion photos). It will appeal to most men and hold up nicely in wash compared to some of the bright colors that we see all over the place at the moment.

Fit
I wore a US size M for a 32″ waist, and the trunks fit was just fine. No need to size up or down.

Price
The 2wink Hot Angel can be ordered online and will cost you a reasonable $27,55, because as the label says, these trunks were perfected downunder :)
