For today’s inspirational photos I am following up on yesterday’s raving review of the PIPE Unbeaten, Gold-Square Cut Brief.
You see, the Unbeaten Square Cut Brief collection by Pipe is quite broad, offering a number of color designs.
And they all feature that amazing gloss, elastic bands – with a discrete, yet noticeable lift effect – printed around the front pouch, over the upper thigh, and across the butt.
Take a look.
A few weeks ago, men’s underwear innovator, PIPE, sent me a bunch of samples from their recent Unbeaten collection. Last week I finally found the time to properly try on the different cuts, including today’s item – the Gold-Square Cut Brief.
When you first unwrap this pair of squarecuts/trunks, it becomes apparent that PIPE has put a lot of effort into this collection. Honestly, and without exaggerating, I can say that this range is unlike anything I have seen before.
And it’s all down to one little discrete detail – one that makes a world of difference.
Want to know what it is? I’ll tell you in my review below.
First of all, let’s have a look at what we’re dealing with here.
|Style and look||From afar the PIPE Unbeaten, Gold-Square Cut Brief is traditionally looking trunk cut. It comes with quite a wide 2 inch waistband, giving it a very masculine look. Only one small minus. The waistband consists of an elastic band loosely wrapped in a cotton fabric tube. This means that the elastic band can twist and spin within the cotton wrapping, which to me is a tad annoying.
BUT, and this is a big but, this doesn’t subtract from the overall look and feel of this trunk. Especially, this slight flaw is massively outweighed by the cut’s defining detail, a number black gloss, elastic bands printed around the front pouch, in an arch over the upper thigh, and across the butt.
These lines do an excellent job exaggerating not only an illusion, but also very real feeling, of enhancement and lift. This effect is truly amazing to me, and the best thing is that you are not in any way annoyed by the elastic bands, since they are only printed on the outside of the trunk.
|Suitable for?||Due to its 93 % cotton, 7 % Spandex fabric composition, the PIPE Unbeaten Gold-Square Cut Brief is a perfect choice for everyday wear. The lift and enhancement features also make the trunk a suitable choice for fun nights out, even for guys who are not usually into enhancement underwear. The effect is subtle but noticeable – your package will be looking impressive, but grossly over-sized.|
|Fit and quality?||The trunk had plenty of stretch so the fit was fine. Notice that I wore a size L for a 32/33 inch waist. Make sure to follow the washing instructions as this trunk is best off being hand-washed.|
|Is the price right?||The PIPE Unbeaten, Gold-Square Cut Brief is US $26 in PIPE’s own web store. I think the price is absolutely fair since we are talking about a pretty innovating take on men’s enhancement underwear.|
|Best thing about it?||There can be no doubt. The printed, elastic, rubber-like bands are subtle details when looking at the trunk – but put it on and these bands come to life and add that extra oomph which underwear enthusiasts like myself crave once in a while. Well done!|
|Overall grade||★ ★ ★ ★ ★
In spite of my concerns about the waistband design, the lift and and enhancement features of the Unbeaten Gold-Square Cut Brief have me pulling out the top grade for this trunk. I wear a lot of good underwear, but I reserve the top grades for the truly innovative underwear. This is one such pair.

And the Papi guys has gone crazy with flag underwear this time – a trend we’ve seen blossom this spring and summer.
This new Papi collection is the brand’s own contribution to Hispanic Heritage month.
What a contribution :)
Rufskin is a menswear brand with attitude – and you get to see this up close and personal in today’s video clips!
The clips are taken from the 2010 fashion show which took place at Rich’s San Diego back in March.
This is a properly produced runway show and it features a bunch of Rufskin clothing items, including the most important category – the underwear ranges.
Maybe you already saw some of the Rufskin pics I posted a while back? Well, in these videos you get a live demonstration.
Also, you get a glimpse of some of Rufskin’s many other clothing categories, including a bunch of swim wear styles and various athletic clothing, like wrestling suits.
FYI, a typical pair of Rufskin briefs is between US $20 and $23.
Also, check out Rufskin’s own blog at ruftalk.blogspot.com.
N2N hosted a steaming fashion show a few weeks back, showing off items from their upcoming 2011 men’s underwear range.
As always when N2N hosts these things, they don’t hold back. They put all the styles up there; briefs, bikini briefs, boxer briefs, trunks, jockstraps, thongs. Whatever your preference, there’s something in there for you.
I could be mistaken – the lighting in this apparent night club setting isn’t the best – but I think I even saw some of N2N’s current bestselling underwear ranges, like the Twilight and Freedom collections, on the runway as well. And I like these two ranges, especially the Twilight brief.
I added some photos of the Twilight and Freedom styles below the video clip.
Can’t wait to try out the new 2011 styles :)
Take today’s video. It takes you behind the scenes of the photo shoot for Aussiebum’s new calendar featuring super fit English rugby players. Videos like this are extremely effective at cementing Aussiebum’s position as a youthful men’s underwear brand with a sporty feel to it.
And this video and all Aussiebum’s other marketing efforts really work. You just can’t resist it. At least I can’t.
Wearing my Aussiebums always makes me feel kind of surfer dude-ish, you know? You get the feeling that Aussiebum really is the preferred underwear brand for healthy, fit, and style-conscious sports jocks… as well as the prime choice for the rest of us who’ll settle for looking like wearing the same underwear as buff athletes :)
Enjoy the video.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen some good men’s underwear videos, right?
Well, the waits is over, guys!
If you’ve been following my posts these last couple of weeks you will have noticed my interest in this excellent brand.
I endorsed their Round Bum Shorties and loved the fact that their range is the widest I’ve ever seen in terms of available color variants.
I already posted a bunch of Aware videos with footage of their current collection. Today, however, we get a sneak peak of the spring/summer 2011 range.
That’s right – this range isn’t even available yet. You can’t your hands on any of these styles before January/February.
The video features all sorts cuts from briefs to trunks. If you like what you see, check out www.awaresoho.com to view their entire collection.
Have a nice weekend, guys, and enjoy the video.
Tribe is the brand behind that trunk that I liked so much the other week.
But Tribe is a much more versatile brand with so many more styles and designs. So, I thought you guys might like a sneak peak at some of their many other amazing swim and underwear styles.

So, did you catch the videos featuring the current Aware Soho men’s underwear collection?
Well, I’ve been lucky enough to try out a couple of items from this collection, including a pair of firetruck red Round Bum Shorties – which I decode as a low rise brief.
It’s my impression that in terms of fabric, fit, and quality this style is fairly indicative of what you generally can expect from Aware Soho underwear. And when it comes to color and design, you can have it any way you want. With 37 different color variations, the Round Bum Shorties range is endless!
Having been around since 2001, Aware Soho is somewhat of a dinosaur in the world of modern men’s underwear – and you can really sense they know what they’re doing. More about that in the review :)
Check the countless cuts and designs out at www.awaresoho.com.
|Style and look||As hinted above you should decode the Round Bum Shorties category as low briefs, bordering on square cuts. The low rise look is a modern classic these days, and the styles feels and looks slightly understated, yet very masculine. The wide sides and waistband, the sufficient back coverage, and – especially – the generous, double-layered pouch make for a very attractive pair of briefs.|
|Suitable for?||The Round Bum Shorties are perfect for everyday wear. They’re made from a thick-feeling 95 % cotton and 5 % Elastane – the classic fabric combination for most men’s underwear. Don’t wear it for sports activities. Perfect for guys who are looking for a clean look and who just want a solid pair of briefs. I really like the red color – It’s my no. 1 choice when it comes to solid colored underwear this season.|
|Fit and quality?||The fit was just fine. I wore a size M for a size 32/33 inch waist. No need to size up or down. After a few washes, the fabric felt a little stiff. Make sure to follow the washing instructions and consider adding fabric softener.|
|Is the price right?||The Aware Soho Round Bum Shorties are US $27 which is a fair price. The quality/price ratio of this brief is on par with most other quality briefs in the mid-range category.|
|Best thing about it?||I really like the overall cut – the combination of a low rise cut with not too narrow sides is a stunning and classic look. Combine this with a the well-designed pouch and you have one great-looking pair of briefs.|
|Overall grade||★ ★ ★ ★ ☆
The Aware Soho Round Bum Shorties are quite the looker – a well-produced pair of masculine briefs. The many color variants are a plus, too. Next time I wash them I’ll try following the instructions more carefully so that the fabric won’t feel too stiff.

Even though we’re halfway through August, the summer is definitely still on across the US and most of Europe.
It’s the perfect to time update your swim wear wardrobe. Many online stores and brands are clearing out their stock and you can get some really great deals on quality swim wear (and underwear for that matter).
Also, if you’re a true underwear and swimwear fan, wearing the same swim briefs/trunks/shorts all summer is just plain boring.
Another favorite brand of mine N2N, however, also offers some fun and eye-catching swimwear. So if you’re looking to update your swimwear collection, you really should consider the following two hot N2N items.
Meet the St. Tropez Trunk and Checker Sport brief.
N2N St. Tropez Swim Trunk
Two things make this swim trunk stand out. 1) The funky and colorful horizontal stripe design will catch you some gazes on the beach. Also, horizontal stripes will make you package seem impressive, even if the water is frighteningly cold.
2) The ultra light and ultra thin fabric feels awesome. It’s made from a standard swim wear fabric blend, 83% nylon and 17% spandex. Even though the fabric is noticably thinner than other swim briefs, it’s not see-through.
The N2N St. Tropez Trunk is US $30 at www.n2nbodywear.com.
N2N Checker Sport brief
Actually, the N2N Checker Sport Brief is made from the same type of fabric as the St. Tropez Swim Trunk. On the surface it has a slightly more conservative print design, but in reality the contour pouch design makes sure that you will still be drawing looks at the beach.
As a cut this swim brief is low rise and on the right body it will look sizzling hot. One word of advice, though. If you’re the proud owner of a few extra pounds, go for swim shorts instead. Swim/board shorts are extremely forgiving and will give you a youthful look, regardless of your size. We’ve got to be honest, guys, swim briefs look best on a fit body.
